Implants

Implants

If you are missing one or more teeth and are looking for a durable, fixed solution. Implants prevent bone loss and improve chewing function.

What do we do?

The dentist places an artificial root (implant) in the jaw. After healing, a crown, bridge, or prosthesis is attached to this for a natural result.

What is an implant?

An implant is an artificial root made of titanium (or in some cases zirconium) that is placed in the jawbone. After healing, the implant becomes firmly attached to the bone and forms a stable base for a crown, bridge, or prosthesis.

Implants can be used for:

• replacement of one tooth

• replacement of multiple teeth

• securing a snap-on denture

When is an implant suitable?

An implant can be a good solution:

• in case of loss or imminent loss of teeth

• when a bridge is not a suitable option

• with problems with a loose or uncomfortable denture

Whether implants are possible in your situation depends on the amount of jawbone and your general health.

The treatment process

  1. Consultation and intake: discussing your health, wishes, and options.
  2. Diagnostics: in most cases, a CBCT scan is made for safe and accurate planning.
  3. Placement of the implant: the implant is placed under local anesthesia. After 7–10 days, a check-up follows and in some cases also the removal of the sutures.
  4. Healing: the healing phase lasts an average of 8–12 weeks.
  5. Placement of crown, bridge, or snap-on denture: after healing, the final restoration is placed.

Advantages of implants

• Fixed and stable solution

• Natural appearance and function

• Preservation of jawbone

• Long lifespan with good oral hygiene

Snap-on denture on implants

A snap-on denture is a removable prosthesis that firmly clicks onto implants in the jaw. This offers significantly more stability and comfort than a loose-fitting denture.

Usually, a snap-on denture is attached to two or four implants, depending on the jaw and the desired firmness.

Advantages of a snap-on denture

• More stability and security

• Improved chewing function

• Less pressure and irritation of the gums

• Easily removable for cleaning

Costs

The costs of an implant treatment depend on your personal situation and consist of several components. After the consultation, you will receive a clear treatment plan with an associated cost estimate.

In contrast to implants for individual teeth, a snap-on denture on implants is in many cases eligible for (partial) reimbursement from basic insurance.

The reimbursement depends on medical indication, the number of implants, and your health insurer. There is usually a statutory personal contribution.

We always discuss this with you in advance, so you will not be faced with surprises.
